Alasan Atlet Olimpiade Tokyo Disediakan Ranjang dari Kardus

Ranjang kardus ini viral setelah Paul Chelimo, atlet atletik dari Amerika Serikat mengunggah video ranjang tersebut di akun Twitternya.Menurutnya, ranjang kardus disediakan agar para atlet tidak berhubungan intim. Ternyata asumsi Chelimo tidak tepat. Dikutip dari House Beautiful, ranjang kardus dibuat secara khusus untuk atlet olimpiade oleh perusahaan Jepang, Airweave.Airweave menyediakan hampir 18.000 tempat tidur kardus. Sebanyak 8.000 tempat tidur akan digunakan kembali untuk Paralimpiade. Material kardus dipilih ternyata karena mempertimbangkan keberlanjutan dan aspek lingkungan, bukan karena mencegah atlet berhubungan intim selama olimpiade.
